The data on the platform can be compared to the following:
Historical data (N-1, Nm1, Nm1SD, Nm2, Nm3 ect)
Budget
You can compare your actual performance and your budget.
On dashboard, the KPI widgets colour (red/green) will change depending on your comparison and will stay white if no budget is specified.
For reports, you can decide to hide or display the budget in the report menu.
For specific report ;
- OTB - this is a report-specific comparison and combines Actual performance until yesterday (incl.), plus OTB for the future until the end of the time period in question
- Landing - this is also a report-specific comparison and combines Actual performance until yesterday (incl.), plus Budget data for the future until the end of the time period in question
- Forecast - if you are using the forecast module, you can also have a comparison of your Actual performance vs Forecasted performance (from your own forecast or forecast integration if you are using any). Want to know more about the forecast module ? Write to us at support@blent.io !
Historical data
Last year (Nm1) vs Lays year same day (Nm1SD)
When you see "last year", it actually means "last year same date".
When choosing which comparison to use, there is no "better" option, it solely depends on your business needs.
By the same "day" last year we take into account the day of the week as well. For example, if we are Wed 17/04, then last year same day is Wed 19/04 - in both cases this is the 3rd Wednesday of the month. This is useful for F&B for example, because comparing Monday to Saturday would not make sense even if they have the same date like Mon 15/04/24 vs Sat 15/04/23.
This is why this distinction exists on our platform.
The default state for N-1 is last year same date - which means comparing exact date to exact date, for example 17/04 to 17/04.
You can also compare Nm2 up to Nm5.
